COFSE Standards

1. To achieve minimal standards for a B.S. degree in Forensic Science, the

program must offer content in the following areas:

    a. Chemistry with laboratory experience

    b. Biology with laboratory experience

    c. Physics with laboratory experience

    d. Forensic Science with lab experience

    e. Legal Procedure/Professional experience

    f. Calculus

    g. Statistics

    h. Internship or research experience

2. As a minimal standard, a bachelor degree in a natural or physical science or forensic science from an accredited college or university shall be required for entry to a master's of science in forensic science program.

3. To achieve minimal standards for an M.S. degree in Forensic Science, the

program must offer content in the following areas:

    a. Forensic Chemistry with laboratory experience

    b. Forensic Biology with laboratory experience

    c. Physical Methods with laboratory experience

    d. Criminalistics with laboratory experience

    e. Legal Procedures/Professional Practices

    f. Statistics/Probability

    g. Research
