Central State University

The Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences at Central State University seeks to fill four positions by September 2004. Successful candidates will have demonstrated abilities to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in criminal justice research methods. Additional professional responsibilities include scholarly achievement, continuing preparation and study, contributions to student growth and development, and service to the department, university and community. Preference will be given to candidates with active research agendas, including GIS methodology applied to crime mapping and a demonstrated ability and commitment to teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in the existing department curriculum. An earned doctorate degree in Criminal Justice or closely related field is required. Experience teaching in the area of research methods and theory, skill using electronic, Internet and distance learning technologies and demonstrated success in teaching in-service criminal justice professional is desirable. Criminal Justice: Valdosta State University seeks one full time, ten-month, tenure track assistant professor in Criminal Justice to begin August 1, 2004. An earned Ph.D. in Criminal Justice or Criminology or a closely related field is required by appointment start date. A JD degree alone is not sufficient. Seeking a generalist who will complement current faculty interests. Teaching will involve both graduate and undergraduate levels and will involve teaching either statistics or research methods as well as courses in the candidate's own areas of interest.
