Purpose:
To evaluate current strategies used to thwart
transnational crime and show the need to develop well thought out
transnational crime control policies.
Directions:
Students will be asked to reverse roles from project 3
and become policy makers aimed at eradicating the spread of transnational
crimes. In this new role, a student will be given another student’s plan for
the successful commission of transnational crimes, and asked to develop the
means to thwart the plan. Students will be asked to review current laws and
policies for the impacted countries, test their adequacy, and devise new policy
and strategy as needed.
- Describe the strengths and weaknesses of the
transnational crime plan you have been given. Is is plan adequately
described by its author? (week 13)
- Review the legal codes in the impacted countries. Do
they appear to be adequate to stop the activity? What other types of
prevention or intervention strategies are in place in the impacted
countries? (week 14)
- What new laws would you suggest be enacted?
How would you "beef up" law enforcement agencies to thwart this
activity?
What other responses would you suggest? (week 15)
Expected length is around 10
pages. As this is the final project for the course, this is
where you demonstrate how to apply some of the things you have learned in this
course.
